Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, met in Panama with Irene Vélez, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia and President of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16).
During the meeting, the parties discussed the preparatory and organizational processes for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Armenia in 2026.
Deputy Minister Meymaryan expressed gratitude to Ms. Vélez for her willingness to cooperate and share experience, emphasizing that hosting COP17 in Armenia represents a significant opportunity for the country to advance its environmental agenda and strengthen international cooperation in nature conservation.
Ms. Vélez highlighted Armenia’s active engagement in global environmental processes and reaffirmed Colombia’s readiness to support Armenia throughout the organizational and substantive stages of COP17.
